Time Strategies - My Thoughts

My current plan is to try and work ahead and get things done as early as possible without lacking a decent standard of work, i will at the latest try and do all work for each class on the day it is given.

Working Ahead is the only option i like as it means if i have a busy week with other classes i dont need to stress.

The Important Habit of Just Starting by Jory Mackay

Ive always tried to live by this kind of rule because i dont want to ever have a moment of "I wish i did that...." like is mentioned in an anecdote by nurse bonnie ware,

i also hate the idea of procrastination because of the negative mental health effects, as mentioned in the article the negative emotions people feel after knowing they have procrastinated can lead to depression, anxiety and overall a poorer wellbeing in a persons personal and professional life

while the article breaks apart motivation into a simple formula im a big believer in disciple before motivation, i think the best way to get things done is to just teach yourself discipline and not to have to rely on motivation, because some days you wake up and no matter what you cant get motivated.

I do agree that planning and setting goals is the best way to make yourself disciplined, but as the piece says procrastinators cant see into the future, i believe this is an important skill that must be taught

i think the overall most important lesson from this article is that procrastinators cant see the value of their time and that they allow short term pleasures to be a constant in their lives rather than putting real time and effort into goals, and then feeling sorry for themselves after not doing something important

The Psychology of Checklists by Lauren Marchese

after reading the first line, im already liking this piece , the feeling of ticking off things off a checklist is one of the best feelings in the world

Ive heard about the "SMART" goals many times, i agree with the the overall idea except for the "t" , i think that having a specific time can be slightly daunting , alot of things dont have an exact end or are continuous, i think its just overall a blanket statement that doesnt take enough into account.

The mid-task slump is most definitely a real feeling, when you can see the end but it feels so very far away , its always just a steep climb up the hill.

Ive never used gamification but after reading this article it may be something i try to implement into my busy days to keep things fun and keep my spirits up.

3 Steps to Recapture Time by Joynicole Martinez

I think this first idea is very important that every plan or idea needs a "destination" and i like the advice of breaking the "trip" down to 3 or 4 small manageable tasks.

The pruning season is an interesting concept, i think its very important that everyone has a pruning season once in a while just to clear the clutter out of their lives, i find it so much easier to focus on tasks when i know that i dont have things cluttering my way and i find myself doing much better work when i dont feel pressured to do other tasks, tasks always seems to go better when i can put my full attention to it.

i also agree with the final piece of advice that to be successful and to keep yourself motivated on your own projects and goals, if you agree to everything for everyone else you will never have time to achieve your own goals.
